The shareholder is the holder of an interest in the share capital of a stock corporation embodied in the share and thus participates in it as a member. The position as a shareholder can be acquired through the formation of a stock corporation (original acquisition) or through purchase on the secondary market or through inheritance (derivative acquisition). Shareholders can be both natural persons and legal entities.
