Börsenlexikon: Rendite

The return indicates the ratio of the payouts to the deposits of a financial or capital investment and is usually stated as a percentage and on an annual basis. Since the return usually refers to an annual capital yield, it cannot be equated with the key figure profitability, which refers to a company's success. The best known return ratio is the interest rate. However, the term is not sharply defined, which makes it difficult to classify it in a particular market. There are different types of returns, whereby a risk associated with the return must always be taken into account when investing money or capital.
