Börsenlexikon: NASDAQ

Created in 1971, Nasdaq was the world's first electronic stock exchange. Nasdaq is a computer-based system that facilitates trading and provides price quotes on approximately 5000 of the actively traded over-the-counter stocks. The term "Nasdaq" in capital letters "NASDAQ" was an acronym for the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotation Systems. More recently, the acronym had been dropped and Nasdaq is now used as a proper noun.
