Börsenlexikon: Agio

The term premium is used in two ways: For example, agio stands for the price premium on the nominal value of a security, expressed as a percentage or CHF (or other currencies). The premium plus the nominal value equals the issue price. Opposite: discount. In the case of options or warrants, the premium indicates the percentage by which the purchase (call) or sale (put) of the underlying asset through exercise of the option is more expensive than the direct purchase/sale of the underlying asset.
