LITHIUM AMERICAS: 328 years of security!

Yes, then there's probably no need to worry about lithium as a raw material in the longer term. Why: The Appalachian region in the east of the USA is estimated to contain 2.3 million tons of undiscovered, economically mineable lithium in the form of pegmatite deposits. This is according to a study published by the US Geological Survey (USGS) at the end of April 2026. According to the agency, the extensive area contains enough lithium to replace US imports at last year's consumption level for 328 years. This would, of course, be a hugely important contribution to US mineral security at a time when global demand for lithium is growing rapidly and massively. At the moment, the USA still imports more than half of its consumption. Soon, however, the mines of LITHIUM AMERICAS will further reduce this figure! With regard to the "Appalachian discovery", it should also be noted that many figures are probabilistic estimates, that a large proportion have not yet been confirmed by drilling, that environmental issues in the Appalachians are politically very sensitive, and that the mining of pegmatites is technically and ecologically complex. The USGS therefore deliberately speaks of "potentially economically recoverable" resources, not "proven reserves". Nevertheless, a certain "raw material or lithium security" cannot be denied for the distant future. However, it will probably be at least another 20 years before this could be the case. So the supply situation will remain rather tight for the next few years! At LITHIUM AMERICAS, the go-ahead for production is drawing ever closer and this alone speaks in favor of the share!
