Last week, specifically on July 17, we asked ourselves whether we could already see the expected comeback in the shares of the chip group INTEL, or whether it was just a "flash in the pan" for the time being. The reason for the further move of over +6% was an analyst's comment on the Lunar Lake chip that will soon (2H24) be coming out of production; INTEL is expected to use this chip, among other things, to start the race to catch up. If it is true that 30% power savings are possible with this chip and the performance is even said to be 40% faster than that of Qualcomm, for example... then yes! But trade war fears also play into INTEL's hands - in contrast to other competitors. Taiwan is currently still the leader in the production of highly developed chips. If the USA were to prevent TSMC from selling chips within its borders, this could lead to an economic "catastrophe". In any case, INTEL is trying to position itself as a safe alternative even in such a scenario; after all, INTEL is the only chip manufacturer apart from South Korea's Samsung that still has state-of-the-art production facilities in addition to TSMC. Will the high investments soon pay off, including in Arizona, Ohio, Oregon, Israel, Ireland and Germany? However, with or without geopolitical "skirmishes", we are convinced that investors will continue to enjoy INTEL shares. This is underpinned not least by Northland's recent upgrade to "outperform", with a price target of USD 68. We remain "humble" with our price target of USD 39 (approx. +28%), but do not rule out a timely increase!
INTEL is listed on the NYSE in New York under the symbol INTC, the security number is 941,595, last price approx. USD 32.99.
INTEL: "Comeback" briefly at +22.3%!
